I don’t know what’s happening to me. If it’s my personal style evolving or if I’m finally giving in to this British schoolgirl bend that the likes of Madewell, Gargyle, and certain corners of Urban Outfitters is celebrating.
Whether long-lasting or a trend, some degree of me really wants a leather (or faux) satchel. Like little schoolboy from Le Ballon Rouge.
I came across Gear 3 at Workroom in August, and the line instantly made me wish I had become an architect. Or someone who wears leather straps on the regular. … Designed in Korea by Saen, these pieces are amazing. They aren’t schoolgirl satchels, they’re much sexier than that. I’d describe them as rather badass Japanese industrial designer satchels. Fit for someone who lives in a place named “Gotham” or “Metropolis.”
All the pieces come from a collection with a firm vision and sound sense of identity. The backpacks are pretty swank, but I’m all about these briefcases and folios:

Handbag Designer 101 (definitely a site I did not know existed until Googling for Gear 3) features three of the most easily wearable pieces (that I conveniently want the most) from Gear 3 along with an interview with Saen. This designer’s statement is not perfectly translated, but you can get the gist of it:
We are going to develop three lines, using mechanical materials as the design point and mechanical looking, uniquely ways shaped bags.
I always had a dream that I will make bags designed by my own idea and creativity one day and I knew this is the right time to do.
I am not afraid to use the unfamiliar materials like bolt, electronic cable and others because I find out the practical ways to use the materials. Thus, my customers have chance to design various styles by practical and unique bag. If I focus on only new and unique design, the output will be unpractical work.. Design is not art. I hope our goods and brand become popular in the world. This is my dream and goal since I start. If our brand spread over the world and people inspired and satisfied by our bags, it will be an honor to be a designer.
