WHAT
This is a blog. Content will vary day by day and post by post, but in general you can count on writings about pop culture and culture (in the ethnic, racial, and nationality sense). Also, I like to share The Best of Bai Ling by filtering her absolutely fascinating blog of inspiration and retell my silly whack Tales from the Club. Sometimes, you will find links to free music. Exciting.
WHO
Mayka Mei, both blessed and burdened by a non-Christian name, is a dancer and former clubbing columnist. Most recently, she (She is a she.) worked a job in “Web 2.0″ marketing that went straight into a portion of her growing Puma collection. Currently, she’s hoofing it in retail. Thanks, Economy.
Culturally, Mayka identifies as an ABC - “American Born Chinese.”
WHY
Having grown up in the Silicon Valley, Mayka registered more blogs than she can remember. She once came across a stalker-sounding Blogspot. It turned out to be hers.
Really, though,
“Bloggers get to experience the fantastic feeling of looking at everything in the world and then having everyone look at them through their blog, of being both subject and object, voyeur and voyeurant.”
- Vanessa Grigoriadis, “Everybody Sucks”
WHERE
Mayka is based in the Bay Area of Northern California. Her life and small-time adventures often take her out of her familiar stomping grounds. The Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica, Shanghai, Paris, and London, to name a few.
WHEN
Whichever comes first: As often as a post feels necessary, or whenever Mayka has Internet access.
HOW
Contrary to the seemingly phonetic appearance, this blog’s title is pronounced “thuh mica-zeen.”
Read the story behind the name: “Why ‘theMaykazine?’”

Hi Jose,
Unfortunately that snow is not something I coded. It’s just one of the many treats offered seasonally to WordPress.com publishers.
