About Mayka

This blog is just an effort for me to not forget anything.

(not really)

I’m a 20-something living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was born and raised here, unlike everyone else who works at a startup.

By day (and typically beyond), I’m Senior Strategist at Red Magnet Media, and a particularly lucky Senior Strategist at that. Turns out senior-level strategizing requires hopping planes to LA and working backstage to invite-only Incubus concerts. Before @redmagnetmedia, I was the woman with MPD handling all the social media channels of the indie fashion etailer, Moxsie. If you were one of @moxsie’s original first 168,000 followers participating in #buyerchat, yes, I judged you by your typos.

I’ve been writing in blogs since 2001. You may have chanced upon this iteration because of a byline sighting elsewhere. Possibly: Mahfia, Clever Girls Collective, NBC’s The Feast, The San Francisco Bay Guardian, Groove Effect, That Minority Thing, or CBS’ Eye On Blogs.

I find myself on the go more and more these days, and my free time is spent reading physical books on planes, inducing myself into carb-riddled food comas, consuming fashion and design content, and punching in class cards at dance studios.

I discuss a lot of random things on The Maykazine. They range in seriousness, but it might help to know that I don’t take life too seriously. My irreverence may be best represented by statements like “Ginny Weasley is a whore,” in which case, don’t get your panties all up in a bunch.

Oh, also, I really like big dogs. If you like big dogs, too, please add a pic or two to the Big Dog Blog.

Unfortunately that snow is not something I coded. It’s just one of the many treats offered seasonally to WordPress.com publishers. :)

really got me interested- your viewpoint on things is fresh and carefree and alike me you don’t take things tooooo seriously although you’re still willing to talk about somewhat serious topics.
