(not really)

I’d post a brief, dry bio, but as an innately curious creature, brief, dry bios annoy me with all the mystery they breed and the questions they don’t answer. I’m a 20-something living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was born and raised here, unlike everyone else who works at a startup.

I write. To satisfy my nonstop craving for edgy streetwear and steampunk accessories (Get money. Get paid.), I’m in charge of Facebooking, tweeting, and booking weekly street food trucks for Moxsie. Most recently I’ve been invited to contribute to NBC Bay Area’s The Feast – coming soon! I’ve also covered style for the San Francisco Bay Guardian, urban culture for Groove Effect, and Asian American perspectives for That Minority Thing. Random outlets have picked up on my words, including CBS’ Eye On Blogs.

I also dance. These days, I mainly do hip-hop with Khamai Dance Company. I’ve trained in and have performed Pilipino folk dance (My ethnic background is Chinese.), ballet (including pointe), tap, jazz, and modern.

I discuss a lot of random things on the Maykazine. They range in seriousness, but it might help to know that I don’t take life too seriously. When I’m being silly, you’ll notice statements like “Ginny Weasley is a whore,” in which case, don’t get your panties all up in a bunch.

    Hi Jose,

Unfortunately that snow is not something I coded. It’s just one of the many treats offered seasonally to WordPress.com publishers. :)

Hello! It’s aliceintumblerland.tumblr.com. I really love the Maykazine. Is there some way my jewelry can be a part of the Maykazine blog?

[...] Mayka has been clubbing, dancing, and blogging for years, like, even before Facebook was discovered by grandparents. One of her more provocative archival posts was about Creepy Stalker Guys in Clubs 2010-04-24 rbatina on flickr ….Bongo and I noticed this guy who was basically the ethnic and age replica of my dad standing even closer to me than my dad and I do. He was actually looking at me, too. [...]
