By this time next week I’ll be in Vegas, recalling the Ghostface, Raekwon, and Mobb Deep special edition of Rock the Bells from the night before, and about to embark on another full day of programming on the STREET and S.L.A.T.E. trade show floors. Yes, I am one of your Official STREET and S.L.A.T.E. Bloggers!

From my hair to my bones, I know that it is going to be a great time. Like a small puppy, I am both excited and confused. Excited because, well, everything MAGIC is always overwhelmingly interesting. Confused because, umm, how did I get lumped into this lineup?

I feel so illegit! Antenna always throws the best parties. Hypebeast and High Snobiety are where I go to dress the imaginary urban boyfriend in my life – Nothing to be worried about, Bill. (Highsnobette for the allegedly “softer” side of the same.) One of my modern writer idols, Mary HK Choi, used to write for Complex, I shop on Karmaloop all the time, and I uphold Bobby from The Hundreds as one of the most hilarious Twitter accounts of the apparel industry. (He’s @bobbyhundreds, if you’re interested.)

Myself? I love eating cereal when I’m watching my cartoons.*

But no, in all seriousness, I’m really looking forward to this round of MAGIC, particularly since I’ll be attending detached from a retailer. This means a bit more time of my own to explore and attend nerdy industry panels, plus unabashedly stalking the booths of my favorite designers and brands. Covering STREET and S.L.A.T.E. is pretty awesome considering one well-timed tweet about sneakers is what eventually got me to MAGIC in the first place. I can’t wait for Ghostface, the pool party at Rumors, and the being-all-up-in-the-business of it all. There’s probably a less awkward way to say it, but I feel so lucky that everything lifestyle is my industry.

Mahfia will be on site so we can document our adventures in a more polished way, and I’ll be tweeting up a storm from @mayka and @redmagnetmedia. (One will be more professional than the other, take a wild guess.)

Copious amounts of abundant thanks to Macala and the Why This Way crew for extending this opportunity to me. None of ye shall be disappointed, especially if you tell me exactly what you want covered now. Leave your suggestions, questions, and food tips in the comments.
