Despised as much as she is adored in the Net-democratized fashion world, Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes is kind of like Madonna. Icon. The root of a lot of envy. It’s not just her closet that’s amazing, but it’s also her status as a Southern debutante. I’m not so impressed or put off by her Urban Outfitters collection. It’s her lineage that irks me – her mom Judy Aldridge is a designer and reminds me of the days when I used to be mad at my parents because they were not famous actors and thus I could never be a famous actress. Heritage is such a bitch, ain’t it? Especially when you don’t have any. (Or to put it more rightly: the type you want.)
Hate that I love her shoes. These three pairs make me consider working out regularly:

Jane is probably the only blogger I check out who uses TypePad, but I guess you shouldn’t expect anything better from someone who lives in Texas.
Signed,
Someone Who Lives in Silicon Valley

oooh i love these! especially Ann Demeulemeester’s. i love that fashion line
She is the master of laces and straps!
ha! i totally agree. The TypePad point was a good closer
but i wouldn’t go as far as comparing her to Madonna. that would just make me more envious
i heart that blog
Yeah, I couldn’t figure out who she’s parallel to! Even Madonna came up from less privilege than Jane, huh? Shouldn’t be so hard to figure out which privileged pop star Aldridge is loosely akin to…
(And thanks for understanding about the TypePad business, haha!)
I also feel upset that my parents are not famous when I see her latest post show up in Reader.
Her parents are not famous. Her mom had a small clothing line that shut down in 1992. Stop being so sore and whiney. Have-not attitudes are so unattractive.
Hi Jane.
