Timing has always been everything, and I’ve learned a thing or two about scheduling health checkups for yourself in between jobs. I wish I had a scheduling counselor when I was making these plans. Since I didn’t, you can learn from my realizations.

The dominoes:

• When you’re scheduling for special medical appointments and calling around the holidays, open slots might be hard to come by.
• When you put in your two weeks, your insurance ends with the end of that month.
• Some plans have a rigid start date of the next first of the month, regardless of when you start working at that company. Ask your new employer when your new plan starts.
• If there’s a break between plans, you have the option to pay for COBRA, but that’s expensive.

The effect:

• Had to move my ultrasound to February instead of today, so instead of waiting one month for confirmation, I’ll be waiting a total of two months for confirmation.
• On the plus side, today is the Last Day for Loungewear!

It’s been a good break.
