I’m spending the last couple of days of “winter vacation” doing selfish things like not changing out of my pyjamas and downloading boatloads of DJ remixes. Just to give you an idea of how productive this morning alone has been, here’s where my bandwidth has been pulling from:
DJ Earworm’s United States of Pop 2009 – Yes, you kind of just have to download this one. I know, I’m a hater and dislike BEP’s “I’ve Got a Feelin’” (except for when Fergie Ferg goes “DRANK!”), but I can overlook Earworm’s use of the track by all the overall fun and happy memories of every song.
DJ Dmadness’ 2009 Rewind – Lucky for the world, MADE Jewelry is well-connected with audibly creative vinyl mixologists. DJ Dmadness also put together an awesome Sade tribute, which then led me to downloading the Aretha tribute, Erykah vs. Jill, and pretty much every other mix offered at Devil’s Pie. Paloma of Papa Lo Down helps to organize Devil’s Pie every month, and if you love soul, you will be there for the next one.
DJ Lady Sha’s Hot Butter Volume 3: Hellz-a-Poppin’ New Years Jump Off! – Love the moment where the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Heads Will Roll” drops in this mix. Where’s a Euro trash party when you need one? The What the Hellz crew sets the bar in being a street-focused fashion label with credibility in everything that defines a Hellz woman: music, art, and the occasional Pilipino food post.
…But there is more music out there to be found. On with my show!
