Purrcasso! Meow.
The Berkeley East Bay Humane Society has been hard at work planning its annual arts and crafts fundraiser gala, Purrcasso. I’ve seen the amount of time and thought Billiam has been putting in as Co-Chair for the event, and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside! We can’t have pets at our house (MAKES ME SO SAD), but we can at least try to help animals in need of a home.
The list of participants is astounding. All art features cats (hence “Purrcasso”) and/or dogs, and all the proceeds go to the Society. What kind artists! Brit Sketch’s piece is the most detailed I’ve ever seen. Per usual, people are flipping out over Bill Presing’s (Pixar) contribution. Rosie Sullivan’s fetch buddies really makes me miss Cody (and want to adopt a fat, piggy bulldog). Since I know I can’t have ‘em all, I’m saving my dollars for Jackie Huang’s (LucasFilm) handfelted Woolbuddy contribution. And hey, Billiam’s logo ain’t half bad, either!
The talented names go on and on, and to top it all off, just about anybody would really appreciate the prime location for Purrcasso this year. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better fit for art and animal lovers: Berkeley’s Fourth Street.

Purrcasso spans both Saturday and Sunday of this coming weekend:
Fine Art & Illustration Auction
Saturday November 7, 2009
7:00-9:30 p.m.
Daytime Craft Fair
Sunday November 8, 2009
12:00-4:00 p.m.
East Bay foodies and sweet tooths should note: THE GALA IS LITERALLY NEXT TO CHOCOLATIER BLUE PATISSERIE’S NEW LOCATION. When the owners of Sketch Ice Cream moved to focus on the upbringing of their new baby, the transition made room for the University Avenue favorite. See? Change is good.
Between Warriors Filipino Heritage Night, Purrcasso, and my sister (and Tico the Schnoodle) being in town, I’m set for a full, happy weekend!
