Ice cream for books!

2009 October 27

A new branch library is scheduled to open in East Oakland next February, at 81st and Rudsdale. The 21,000 square foot branch will serve as a community library for East Oakland, and also act as the library for two OUSD schools.

…And it needs books! The Friends of the Oakland Public Library are raising money to help complete the new project, and now Fenton’s Creamery is lending a hand. Through Saturday, 25% of the sales of their Sundae of the Month will be given to FOPL to buy children’s books for the new East Oakland Community Library.

This is the perfect opportunity to revisit my post-trapezing Celebration Ice Cream:

And I guess books are pretty cool, too.
