We went to Eat Food Talk Shop – Because We Can.
19 Oct
East Bay dwellers, if you’re ever hitting your head against a wall, feeling void of creativity, hop onto Because We Can’s homepage and figure out when their next Eat Food Talk Shop is taking place. Because We Can epitomizes the very existence of events like Maker Faire. They’re the most creative industrial designers you’ve ever met. They’re friends with the people behind Instructables – who could, coincidentally, readily instruct you in how to make baby overalls out of jack-o-lanterns.
And their employee, Sicily, designed the dopest table we own. It looks like it’s going to get up and walk around. And that’s why I bought it. Not pictured are the scribbles and notes Sicily left on this little prototype, stuff like “bezel” scattered amongst stress points. I don’t know the finer points of prototyping furniture, but I like to think that having this Sicily table in my possession bumps me up a couple notches in Owning the Coolest Stuff Ever. (We’re also planning on adding an ant-crawling-up-a-tree-root table to our collection.)
I would even venture to say it is cooler than our treasure chest coffee table.

Side Note: If you need an IKEA Lillberg coffee table that’s preassambled and ready to go, GET AT ME.
