It seems like the greatest common denominator among all the people I met during my SFBG internship is that they never imagined they’d be in the place they are now. I think my favorite story is MADE Jewelry. I’ve become a fangirl of these aspiring lawyers, Abigail and Debbie, who launched their own jewelry line while getting through their 1′s, 2′s, and 3L’s – Because really, what better time to start a company than while you’re going through law school??
Anyway, there’s a phatty 60% off sale over at MADE (starting today!), and I myself will be ordering the Rumi necklace shortly.
Scratch that, I just ordered it.
So aside from being smart, savvy, and stylish, MADE is inspired by fashion bloggers and actually names their pieces after those women. (Hence the Rumi necklace pictured at right, which is named after the Fashion Toast blogger-turned-model.) Though admittedly I don’t follow any personal style bloggers, I’ll always find Net-to-industry influence interesting. (Plus they got their original big break when they randomly messaged some buyer from TRUE on MySpace. MYSPACE.)
If you visit the girls’ website you’ll also notice the mixtape they’ve produced under their name. A fashion label that welcomes Internet influence and encourages music as part of their image? I like it. (And not just because it’s your non-Top 40-hip-hop.)
Congrats to these girls for having made it past the 1-year mark. Check out their steez! (And hop on it quick! I already see a bunch of “SOLD OUT” tags popping up.)
