This weekend marks the second anniversary of my Pilipino performing arts company, Kawayan Folk Arts! Happy birthday, bamboos! Since 2005, KFA has grown from a group of friends to a fully recognized non-profit. The paperwork itself is something to contend with, so kudos to our staff. I love my brown people.
This weekend I’ll be teching for our fundraiser performance, Tuklas.
“We celebrate the exhilarating performing arts of the Philippines in a narrative style in Tuklas and exhibit the artistic and personal relevance for our artists and the unique cultures of the Philippines.” – RJ Payamo, Executive Director
Expect dancing, live music, and stories from the performers themselves. These are people I love and I love watching and listening to their talents. I’m sure you will, too, so you can consider yourself warmly invited to spend your Saturday afternoon or evening with us!
That’s right, two shows:
2:00 PM and 7:00 PM
Tickets: $20 at the door
Saturday, August 23, 2008
Tateuchi Hall at the Community School of Music and Arts
Finn Center, 230 San Antonio Circle, Mountain View, CA 94040
If you’re in the lower peninsula, swing on by! It’ll be a good show. And hey, if you’re lucky, someone’s bahag will fall off…
