The Dark Knight creative.
I’ve seen Brokeback Mountain, but I’ve also seen the intro to Casanova, so my feelings for the late Heath Ledger - though respectful - are not especially warm. I’m skeptical of the Oscar buzz milling around his performance in Dark Knight, but I will give him credit for freaking me out in the little I’ve seen of him in DK trailers. I hope the makeup artists on the team get lots of kudos for their character design. His face terrifies me. I can barely keep my eyes open on all of the menacing posters circulating these days. It’s batshit insane!
Speaking of posters, a new poster has hit the Web via a viral marketing campaign, and I think it is excellent. It scares me, but its design is awesome. Last night I saw a new billboard as well, and I feel like there isn’t a single DK Joker promo image that I haven’t thought is fantastic. Very eye-catching stuff.
The Orphanage.
I’m not averse to watching horrors films or thrillers, because they usually don’t have a lasting impression on me. The Orphanage, though, holy shit. It was such a good film and I have never felt compelled to describe a horror as “beautiful” until now.
Also, I refused to go to the bathroom by myself for a couple of hours because I was convinced a random child in a burlap sack would appear in my mirror. C’est freak.

[...] At first I thought the hype about Heath Ledger deserving an Oscar for his performance was all a bunch of just that - hype - but after seeing DK, I must say I was really impressed. [...]
