If you love a heavy beat or soulful gospel, you need to hear these tracks.

  • Slim featuring Yung Joc – “So Fly”
It’s the return of 112! – Almost. Maybe Slim got pissy that Day 26 was trying to move in on 112 territory, inspiring him to make a comeback. Slim’s released a single called “So Fly.” As if he was Jagged Edge trying to test a wedding proposal on a hip-hop market, he’s made two versions of the song with two different featured artists. The slow one with Kyle is not worth your time. The awesome beat of the fast one with Yung Joc, however, is.
  • Lisa Lavie – “Everything or Nothing”
Non-Black R&B chicks are totally threatening Mariah’s position right now. I really like Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love,” but it’s getting way overplayed, so I’m thankful that someone pointed Lisa Lavie out to me. She’s got so much POWER to her voice. When he described her, he made her into some crazy hybrid of Mariah, Jennifer Hudson, Leona Lewis, …I lost count of the other songstresses. She’s got crazy lungs, listen:
  • Three Six Mafia – “Lolli Lolli”
I’m a sucker for a very specific kind of Dirrty South. Three Six fits that bill. This song is pretty stupid (as many of them are), but it’s also STUPID CATCHY! ;D That it so quickly follows Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop” is easily forgotten and forgiven when you hear the lyric “I keep them hottles.”
