NYC 2008: Day 3.

2008 May 20

Spamalot is hilarious, the musical for musical-haters. They even made it topical. The Knight of Ni sang “California dreamin’, on such a winter’s day. I can go get married, even though I’m gay!” (Congratulations, George, Ellen, and maybe one day, Cynthia and more.) The cast got lost when this bit was thrown in, but eventually King Arthur saved them with some delightfully late improv. And who can resist the Killer Rabbit?

Lyla’s Cafe Creperie, also on the Amsterdam/125th corner, is a cute place, but does not have the door-become-table charm of Kitchenette.

one lovely levain cookie

Heaven rests below the street in New York at a place called Levain. They bake the very best cookies in the world, going through trays so quickly that all types of cookies are piping hot when you buy them. Somewhere between a chewy brownie and a crispy scone and a super dense cookie lies the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip cookie. It is probably also laced with crack. I had to eat it in phases. And then I passed out for two hours.

Gray’s Papaya supports Obama! The Recession Special also helps you skip sleeping to pack and take the subway to the JFK airport, where a bunny in a carrier is also planning to board your plane.
